If you knew what goes on, plant operators making $180k a year, CEO's leaving with millions in there pocket, just to name a few. I can't go into exactly the abuses I know of, but they are very upsetting when the utilities live off of the rate payers back.

I realize they didn't volunteer for any of it, they also are reimbursed for every penny spent on incentives, by the rate payer. It is a monopoly that they are not good stewards of. They are not worried about efficiencies and cheap power for the rate payer, they are only worried about making money, again off of the rate payers back.
I didn't say they should pay a dime for my system, they also shouldn't charge me for having it.

What do you get your pay check from them?

Me lose my job, haha, you obviously don't understand what is going on. The system we have know for our lifetime is changing, and changing quickly in the next 10-20 years.

I'll be retired soon and enjoying my solar. Some of the "penalties" that have been put into place have grandfathered existing systems. One of my reasons for installing this year, prices are down and the climate is changing quickly.

Today a Sub-Station Engineer. Been doing this for over 35 years. I would not have solar for the price I pay for electricity of around 5-cents per Kwh. You are right, 10 to 20 years from now will be switching to nuclear. Nothing wrong with plant operators making $180K a year or CEO's making big bucks. They earned it.

Whether what you say is completely on target or way off, or somewhere in between,as long as you feel that way, why not take the bull by the tail and face the situation squarely by disconnecting from the grid entirely, cost be damned. That way, you don't need to care what they do from a personal financial perspective, and you have complete freedom to do what you want, without interference from the POCO, big brother rate makers, or anyone in the power generation business. All you need do is pay your money, take your choice. Win/win.

Oh believe me, you will not be able to disconnect when you are within the city or county limits. Here in Vegas part time residents tried to pay for trash pick up for only the months that they were in town using the service. No, the water/trash bill will be paid whether you use the service or not. I would bet money, before this solar battle is over, you will pay whether you are connected or not.

You may very well be correct, and my cynical self may very well agree with you. But, the future being as murky as usual, I'll wait until to see what develops and try to be proactive as I choose rather than play the victim role.

Lost Wages is under the control of Labor Unions and have their man in power named Dirty Harry who controls the US Senate for now. At least for the next couple of weeks that may change. I really hope that changes. Won't get Dirty Harry out of office, but will strip him of most is power and influence outside of his district. Unions and da-tallian-boys will remain in control of labor and politics in southern NV.
