Grid tie inverter for Sharp ND-210E1J and ND-190R1S

Hi there guys and girls

I have two solar panels, Sharp ND-210E1J and ND-190R1S.

They are rated

210w / Voc: 36.4V / Vmpp: 28.8V

190w / Voc: 29.6V / Vmpp: 23.5V

Can I connect them in parallel?

If yes, what sort of voltage will expect at the terminal?

If yes, what range of voltage grid tie do I need? and in terms of power... is a 500w good enough for them?

Hey Carlos

You can hook up these two panels in parallel but you must ensure the diodes are connected on there with the potential in slightly different voltages.

As for a Grid tie inverter, you will have efficieny losses and by the time the power is output you could be down to 300-350W. For a 500W inverter it is suggested to have roughly 600W supplied to the inverter due to the losses. You should easily be able to find and inverter that will take in 24v.

You can get a couple Enphase 190s off eBay pretty cheap, or the 215 models. You'd need the proper wiring but effectively, you would be running them serially to create more power than any attempt to tie them together in parallel through any other cheap solution you're trying to do. Call around to local solar installers to see if they have any 190s in stock they'd be willing to sell you cheap.
