Chest Freezer off the grid - My first solar project - Help

Taking my small Chest Freezer off the grid. Manufacturers plate indicates 5 AMPS, 115 Volts, 60hz. Have three 15 watt solar panels, 7 AMP charge controller, 600 watt power inverter. Not sure on the sizing of the system. Do I need more than two 12 Volt deep cell batteries? Do I need more than two 15 watt panels? Is a 7 AMP charge controller enough? Will have about 40' of wire from panels to the system and about 12' to the Chest Freezer (what weight wire to use)? Midwest state, average light conditions. Advice please before I proceed. T-9

    Whoa !! don't buy a thing yet.

What does the yellow energy card that came with the freezer say ? How many KWH needed for a year ?

Take that # from the yellow card, and add 20% to it, and you are close to reality. (just like the EPA mileage sticker on a car)

Say your sticker says 400KWH per year, That converts (divided) to 1.1KWH per day. Say an average area in the USA gets 5 good solar production hours in the summer, that would need a PV array of 220W if your batteries, charger and inverter were all 100% efficient. They aren't and you really will need about 500W of PV to begin to make a go of this. For just 1 freezer @ 400KWH

Get the # from the yellow sticker first. Or look up the Annual Energy Usage of your freezer. Then we can continue.

      SOLARFREEDOM YOU HAVE A PROBLEM:

Taking my small Chest Freezer off the grid. Manufacturers plate indicates 5 AMPS, 115 Volts, 60hz. Have three 15 watt solar panels, 7 AMP charge controller, 600 watt power inverter

5a x115v =575w.. You have solar panels rated at total 45w . will give mabe 90whr between 10am and 3pm summer time.. You see a problem here?[/COLOR]
A 600w even if True Sine Wave is extremely unlikely to start a freezer that uses 575w. You would likely need at least an inverter of 1500w. Im willing to bet your inveter is MSW.?

3x15w panels would just keep a small 50ahr battery charged provided you used no more than 4ahr a day.. Thats using 48w for 1 hour a day.MAX.
