So I’m new! I have had a semi homemade solar solar water heater for almost ten years. It started out very bad and did not work. But I have learned a lot of lessons along the way. My current setup is 5 2x8 flat plate panels at 57 degrees tilt, heat exchanger, 2 taco pumps, and a way to expensive at the time controller. The system first heats 50gl in an old water heater then (via a anti scald valve) adds heat to an electric water heater at around 135 degrees and up. Currently considering adding overheat protection and another panel to increase winter temperatures
