Each charge controler will have 16 6v batteries or 2 48v batteries to maintain.
The plan is to use copper pipe as a pos and neg buss bars for the controllers and inverters to tie together and tie the batteries to the buss bars with equal length wires. This was sugested to me by a tech at Arizona wind and sun (a retail store).

I have 2 80 amp charge controlers
I will also have the banks split in 2 for the charge controllers to have a better chance of keeping up with demands of charging.Leave a comment:

For a 900Ah battery system you need to get your charging amps between 75A and 112.5amps. I usually focus on a C/10 charge rate which would be 90amps but unfortunately that is more then a typical CC that has a maximum rating of 80Amps.
If you get lower than a C/12 rate you run the risk of getting the battery plates sulfated which causes them to die.Leave a comment:

To be safe I would say your bank can deliver 43,200 wh x 25% or 10800wh which comes to a load of 450 watt for 24 hours. Of course less time allows for a bigger load.Leave a comment:

225 ah 6v x 8 = 48 v 225 ah bank
x 4 banks = 900 ah
900 ah x 48v = 43,200 watt hours
43,200 wh = 1000 wh load 43.hours

For future reference, when you wire batteries in series you add up the voltage but the Ah is the same as one, when you wire batteries in parallel you add up the Ah rating but the voltage is the same.
As for a 3 year old 48V battery, I would be cautious about getting even half their rated life cycles but if they are cheap then they might be worth it.
