Looking for guidance on hooking up and using BP solar panels and SolarPRO controller

Hi folks and thanks for reading this, my first post here. I'm a total newbie, but I've always been interested in photovoltaics, and I recently purchased at the Habitat ReStore (used, of course): two BP solar panels, each about 17" by 38", and a SolarPRO CC20 solar charge controller / monitor from ICP Global. I was told that the person who donated them to Habitat had used this setup on his yacht. There were no cables, so I have not been able to hook the panels up to the controller (not that I would know how anyway), but I used a multimeter to measure DC output in more-or-less direct sunlight and each one puts out about 9 volts. I have no idea if the SolarPRO gizmo works.

I believe that the purpose of the SolarPRO is charge a battery from the PV panels. I'm not sure what I'm going to use the panels for yet, so I don't know if I'm even going to be using a battery. In fact, that's another reason for this post: I'm looking for ideas, examples, etc. So I would welcome suggestions about books or websites, etc., where I might find ideas for using the amount of "juice" that these two BP panels can produce. (I drive a Chevy Volt -- but I'm pretty sure I won't be trying to charge my Volt from just two old PV panels. Maybe my old cordless electric lawn mower?)

Any suggestions as to where I might find the sort of cables I would need to connect the panels to the SolarPRO?

I've attached photos of the panels and the charge controller (which looks like it's led a hard sea-faring life).

Thanks everybody for your comments and suggestions and ideas.
