Please Help! Futuristic Solar Energy Question!!

Hello, for my writing class I have to write a research paper about the future of a topic. Solar energy is my topic. "Research about the future in solar energy"
I am really lost about paper because how can someone research about future solar energy. Does anyone have any ideas or thoughts I can look up about the future of solar energy? It would help out a lot. Thank you!!

Hello CollegeStudent and welcome to Solar Panel Talk, of course there is quite a bit of discussion about that sort of thing from time to time on this fine solar forum. Pretty much seems to be all about more cost effective storage (e.g batteries) as the solar is only any good during the day, so the race is on, Telsla have very good PR but no product at the moment, other more established battery manufacturers are also working towards the same ends. As with anything opinions will vary greatly, you might also want to have a look at solar industry sites like www.solarindustrymag.com and or things like http://www.solarreviews.com/news/ cheers

Ya, Batteries. Electrical storage will be the next big thing in the energy field. Having a economical way to store power has held back the alternative energy industry for ever. The whole electrical industry is structured around having to use-or-lose electrical power. When (still iffy) a good storage solution is available, everything will change. Even a modest amount of battery will make residential solar systems a benefit to grids by providing stabilization. Making solar dispatchable by adding batteries will be the death of dirty baseload generation (coal and nuclear). Not to mention better batteries could energize electric vehicles and transform the transportation industry and potentially solve the peak-oil issue. etc, etc. Better batteries may never happen, but as a theoretical school paper, you can assume they will and make a career out of how the world will change.

Aren't you kind of asking - please tell me how to do my assignment? You'd probably benefit more from trying to do the work yourself than asking someone to hand it to you.

But anyway, just to be helpful here are some ideas in addition to the ones already presented in this thread:
          - You could write about development of solar panel technology - how the technology of panels will develop to make them more efficient, perhaps easier to install, maybe more flexible (both figuratively and literally).
          - You could write about the economics of solar - the US Federal rebate on solar energy is going away at the end of 2016 - this is going to have effects on the market for solar - how will the industry adapt? What are the implications for the type of solar that will be installed after 2016? What will be the political impact? Will there be a backlash that will cause "green" candidates to gain more power?
          - You could write about the social effects of solar - how will increasingly cheap solar power help societies with less-developed electric grids? Will electric power enable people to get out of poverty traps as relatively cheap/reliable energy allows them to be more productive?

If I increase the font size of your response, I may be able to fit it in my 7 page research paper. Thanks for taking care of that.

If you are really lost, why not change topics ? This one seems to be a bit involved.

Also, FWIW, and meant in a constructive way, if what you've posted here is any gauge of your written skills, if I was you, I'd go back for a refresher on grammar and syntax before I went much further.

Welcome to the forum of few illusions.
