Yes, I had a few of the smaller ones live, but my largest, most expensive ones died. They have been through other outages, but not in such hot weather. If I understand correctly, the hotter water does not hold as much oxygen. Truth be told, I'm really bummed out about it. So thank you for the support.

t5800512, my Wife used to have a large salt water reef tank. I had a large battery backup system on it that would last for about 45 mins during a power outage. We had a transformer explode outside our house during a storm and it took the power company 1/2 a day to come out and fix it. So we didn't lose all her fish & reef, I was running the car, which powered my small notebook inverter, which kept everything alive. Talk about panic mode with the wife worried about losing her tank.Comment

Wow! I bet that was a panic. If I had been home, I could have started my onan genny, and ran some extension cords. But no, I came home to floating fish.
Again, thank you all.Comment

Yeah. At first I was using clip leads from the battery to the cigarette plug on the inverter, and after awhile I got to thinking, I wonder how much this is pulling from the car? I better start it. The car did one of the slowest craaaank, craaannk, vroom starts. That would have been icing on the cake.Comment

Not quite: 39.92 kWh. Close enough I guess. I've noticed a little perturbation in the power curve late afternoon that may be due to shading or perhaps just clouds. I haven't checked for awhile and don't recall whether it's a neighbor's tree or one of my own. Time to go on the roof again and also check for bird poop. Flat foam roof makes it easy if hot these days. Here's the plot of power and cumulative production:

OK, I was thinking if you had been home you could have done something about it - even add ice cubes if nothing else. I recall going through an ice storm many years ago in Michigan. Power out for days. My condo temperature got into the 30's before power was restored. A colleague who had a large salt water fish tank lost pretty much all of his fish.Comment

No, you won't be happy with "close enough". You will have to cross the big 40 before you are happy. Yesterday (before the power outage) I was hoping to match my highest day of 22 kWh.
I mentioned that I had done some tree trimming this weekend. I was surprised to see how a shadow on a black surface can be hard to see, especially later in the day. And the shadow comes on gradually, so it is hard to see looking at the enlighten bell curve of the day, which is what I usually look at. When I looked at the individual panel outputs, I could see something. But it was still not as obvious as I would have expected. I think because the shadows did not complete block out the individual panels, and the shadows move from panel to panel as the sun crosses the sky. I guess I be will trimming trees the rest of the year as I continue to find new shadows that I did not anticipate. And then there are my neighbors trees, that I have no control over.Comment

Not unless I/we get one of those perfect days with cooler temps, clean air and no clouds. That was exactly what I was expecting yesterday. And need I say, no shade from the trees.
So far (knock on wood), my power output is still hanging in there. I'm getting sun that is more perpendicular to the panels, and the bell curve is widening as the sun moves back to the south. But I don't expect it to last to much longer.Comment

I can't imagine how you did that. It was brutally hot that day. I'm so ready for this heat to break! But still no hope in the long term weather forecast.
Hey, what part of the area you in. I would love to have lunch sometime.Comment
