Solar or run line?

I think I know the answer to this, but if it would cost $2250 to have an electrician run a line to the house, does it make sense to power a 1.5 HP irrigation system (10 amps at 230v) from an off-grid solar system?

Usage is about 4 hours per day. Location is near Boston MA.

See my calcs in your other post. But I would estimate > than $10k to run that pump using a solar/battery system that uses good batteries and panels.

I was guessing $8,000 - so yeah, better to run a line - and then get rooftop solar for the incentives.

The answer is the same in both threads. Grid power beats off-grid solar by a long shot.

If I made two posts, I didn't mean to. The website turned blank when I hit the post button, so I thought it didn't work, and so started over.

If that happens a lot, then the forum server could be the cause.

Sometimes the forum server will block a post with a weblink so people tend to post again which also gets blocked. PIA trying to clean up the duplicate posts but still better then letting 100's of people come in and post spam.

Yes i would agree better to run the power and spend you money on rooftop panels. It would take a lot of money to make that pump run at all on solar, and even if you threw the pump away to go to one that was made to run on solar to get the needed output the money just doesnt add up to go with the solar water pump.
