My PV and heating systems for my hot tub work fine - except my pump comes on too early in the day and stays on too late in the afternoon. My pump is on a dedicated PV panel. I am looking for DC thermal controller with two leads - one to the panel and one grounded to the exterior of the tub. When the water in the panel is hotter than the tub water, the switch would close and activate the pump and when the water in the panel is cooler than the tub the switch remains open. Anyone aware of such a controller? I spoke with Ivan Solar earlier today and he suggested an in-line resistor adjusting the Ohms. That would work for either the too early or too late but not both. As a last resort I may adjust the Ohms. I am open to suggestions.

I suggest that you Google "differential thermostat". One of the many items that comes up is this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Temperature-...-/121085779697
But there are a lot of others, and you may find some purely mechanical ones that do not require power.SunnyBoy 3000 US, 18 BP Solar 175B panels. -
