I have a 4" well on my property, the waters not great but works fine for irrigation. My plan is to pump it to a 1500 gallon holding tank about 3' off the ground and use gravity drip emitters for my garden and orchard.
So 30 trees each drinking about 6 gallons a day and the garden using about 10 gallons a day gives me a daily usage of about 200 gallons and about a 7 day supply with that size tank.
I'm in Eastern New Mexico so sunlight days are excellent.
My question is, which pump?
Could go with the obvious of a regular 120 or 240 volt 1/2 HP submersible with associated battery bank, BIG inverter and panels. A soft start 120 volt with battery bank, smaller inverter and panels. A 12/24 volt submersible diaphragm pump. Or all sorts of other combination's.
I know the 12/24 volt should be the first choice but the prospect of pulling the pump every couple of years for overhaul isn't appealing.
There is also the good old fashioned Aermotor windmill.
So input please, which would you choose?
