Supplemental Charging with a generator

Hi, I have a "generator in" connection on my system, so I can charge the batteries if they get lower than 75%. My solar designer said I need to use an i-series generator to for this purpose. Does anyone know what that means?

I believe the "I" series means an inverter type generator. Best to contact your solar designer to find out what it means.
