wats, volts, ah, kwh OH MY ... chest freezer off grid questions

I understand off-grid freezers are not cheap. With that being said, I have a ...

    Frigidaire
    5 Cubic Foot Capacity - FFC05C3CW
115volt, 60 Hz., AC. 15 amp grounded outlet is required.
*Wattage Range (Last 1⁄3 of cycle) 70-85

Would like to solar power off grid

I am totally confused about the electrical specs of all devices and how they need to work together

new and stupid, please be gentle with me for your answers

    so far I have

I have two Solar Panel PV 12V Poly 100 Watts
and two deep cycle batteries 200 ah (which I know I should never drain more than 50%)
plus 30A MPPT Solar Panel Regulator Charge Controller 12V/24V Auto Switch
and a Battery Tender Plus - fully automatic and Microprocessor controlled 12-Volt 1.25-Amp battery charger

I have lots of various UPS's laying around that I was hoping to do a UPS to Inverter Conversion
need to know what UPS size would be best and ...

    what more would I need

also what would be best for:
a fuse or breaker between the inverter and the battery bank.

    thanks in advance

    Welcome.
Most UPS's are for computers, and produce a mod-sine output, which is NOT good for motors. They cause motors to run about 20% hotter, and in a freezer (or fridge) that's extra heat it has to dump, making longer run times. You really want a pure sinewave inverter.
For starting the motor, you need about 5x the running amps, sometimes even more. You can guess at it, or hire an electrician to bring his $350 peak hold AC amp meter and measure the start up current. Or you buy the meter yourself.
Your inverter has to be large enough to provide this starting surge, and the batteries and cables need to not choke up the power.
Most 500w inverters are just a tad too small to power the starting surge.

Then use a $25 Kill-a-Watt meter to measure the running amps, and daily watt hour totals and that lets you size the battery bank you need.

all of my ups's are pure sinewave, it's all i buy
for example one of them is
      CyberPower PP1100SW Smart App Sinewave UPS - 1100VA/700W AVR 7-Out Tower SNMP/HTTP

and the rest of your post, you lost me on, sorry

you need about 5x the running amps, sometimes even more. ... I have a Compact Digital Multimeter w/ Audible Continuity
Multimeter Model: 421 ... can I use that to accurately measure the start up current

Most 500w inverters are just a tad too small to power the starting surge. ... but something like my 700w pure sinewave ups might work, no?

and what about a fuse or breaker between the inverter and the battery bank.

thanks for your reply ... any other thoughts and tips?

Unless your multimeter has an A/C amps setting then you wont be able to use it.

I have a 7.5 cubic ft freezer, fairly late model so reasonable comparison for yours, and I have had a watt meter on it today.

its rated current on its name plate is .3A and by the meter it is running at 73w after start up, so that works out.

My system is 24V over 1000ah battery and 3000w quality inverter.

The start up current by the meter is 1272w.

Don't get the battery data from Bala mixed up with the data from the OP mrsray.

What is the voltage of those 2 x 200Ah batteries and how do you plan on converting that UPS to only be used as an inverter and not try to charge those batteries?

Sorry I made the mistake of thinking that Question was directed at me, I will delete my responses.

No problem. I was interested in your battery system and was happy you provided those details.

I just didn't want Bucho to get confused which is real easy when you get a lot of input from people.

Thanks, I was completely doing that.
