    30v solar charge 12v

hi all im new to the solar scene and have a chance to get a 250 watt panel but will be using it in a 12v system.

I do know what to look for of if it is possible to charge battery's with it as i believe it is a 30v panel. (only a guess)
    here are the info
    open circuit vol 37.3
    rated voltage 30.1
    sht circuit current 8.78
    rated 8.31
will i be able to use this to charge my battery's and use my inverter (12v -240v)

    hope you can help.
    many thanks

Without a lot of specifics of the balance of the system yes you can. However you will be forced to use a MPPT charge controller. This will down convert the voltage to what ever battery you are using. If say you go cheap and get a PWM charge controller it will work but you will effectively reduce your panel from a 250W panel to a 99W panel.
Mppt= watts in = watts out
PWM amps in = amps out
    So a your panel @ 12V battery = 20.8 amps charging @ 12V with a MPPT.
Same panel with PWM @ 12V battery =8.31 Amps.
You will need a charge controller rated for at least 30 A
