The point is about civility and not getting your panties in a wad every time someone new asks a question without all of the details. In this case OP tried to respond as well as he or she knew how. Then theknee-jerk questions and significant uncivil rant were unleashed

Of course more details can be helpful, but for crying out loud, this was a simple question of what gauge to run a 120 volt line for 150 feet and the OP simply needed to be told that, with the caveat that it is only the right answer up to a certain wattage. Every answer is understood to be conditional because we can't ever know every factor, but there weren't many one needs to know for this simple deal. So, yeah, its obviously conditional. Sunking was also simple, and correct.

The response to my criticism is just retreat to the technical again. Good job avoiding my real criticism of the way the OP was treated.

So you don't think that the OP would benefit from knowing that it would be better to put the batteries and inverter by the load instead of by the solar?
or find out if in fact the OP had a reasonably sized inverter instead of like others have done had a drastically oversized inverter in which case the wire size would have to be higher?

Actually I though JRR was the one that got his panties in a wad and seemed to take my Rant as a direct insult. I could have just told him he was a complete A-hole but I felt the OP needed some more inspiration to provide enough details so we could help them so I toned it down.

Maybe some people just are just too thin skinned for reality.

Or maybe some folks just don't like the "forum of few(er) illusions" format.

You must not have read anything there Jesse Jackson. Just jumped up on your soapbox crying racism without any knowledge of the facts. No one jumped him until after he got his shorts in a knot and the OP started it. We finished it.

Not how it reads. The rant pissed off the OP, as i think it would anyone. I just called BS when it was obvious a simple answer was all he needed.

The forum does provide no-nonsense education, and I recognize a lot of folks come here with goofy fantasies of saving the planet, or getting "free energy" to run their house with a 12v battery, a 100w panel and a 3,000w inverter. They need to be disabused of those notions. I don't think this OP was one of them is all.

              I've said my peace.

(Now with regard to the Jesse Jackson soapbox and racism comment, is that all you've got? It didn't really work that well. Sort of a bizarre turn, huh?) .

I am with you KMac....many people on this forum have to much time on their hands(this is their life) and like to show how unintelligent they are.

That's me ! Guilty as charged.

But I'd suggest you might spend some time informing yourself with respect to the background information to your question before asking others to spoon feed the basics you can get faster on your own, and then bitching about the manner of the delivery of answers you don't understand.

I'm wondering: If the indolent among us who have surplus time on their hands are as unintelligent (as I readily admit for my part anyway) as you seem to think, why do you ask questions of the unintelligent ? Tell you what, I'll let you ponder that as you wish or see fit.

It would be helpful to me and maybe the charitable thing to do on your part if, in the future, you'd add "the unintelligent need not respond" to your questions. That would save me, at least, a lot of time if, on the off chance you may actually ask something or provide some comment I can understand, I'd then have the opportunity to perhaps add to the body of knowledge.

As usual, take what you want of the above. Scrap the rest.
