Come on really, I simply don't want to use ic equipment. I have a beautiful block of land with an ocean view, if I start up my ic lawn mower the birds fly away, I like birds and nature, as we are apart of it . But I am not some hippy, I do drive a smart car tho which imo is a piece of crap

ill do some points
Ethanol is a joke and i never mentioned that, if i was going to use a combustible engine, i would use hydrogen or ECONOL, fungi is an amazing thing.
@ the end of the day if i go and buy all my equipment, and it all uses gasoline or what ever,
- its going to be noisy
- its going to have more parts plastic metals ect
- its going to make crappy fumes
- its going to piss me off
Electric
- quieter sometimes not by much but it is more quiet
-sustainable via solar/ wind,
- batteries can be 99% recycled in a clean way and i have found a company that does it.
-Electric equipment is cheaper
- no fumes, say for e.g. a lawn mower, an electric one will emit 3500 times less hydrocarbons than a petrol one...
From Well to Wheel hydrogen has at very best 5% efficiency. That means from your source fuel of natural gas or coal it takes 20 units of energy to get 1 unit of energy out.
I agree ethanol is a joke with 1.2:1 energy ratio, but it is a hell of a lot better than hydrogen with a 20:1 ratioMSEE, PEComment

Im not even going down that path of IC fuels, econol, hydrogen what ever..
im using Electric motors....
and what i will be using them for, is an outstanding choice for the environment, from manufacturing to day to day use in the long run.
The Habits when using IC and electric motors are very different.
Different way of doing things, to get the same end result.Comment

Electric motors come with cords as well - I use an electric lawn mower, trimmer etc.
Not because it is 'green' but because it is the most practical.

nechaus - you've been greenwashed. Somewhere, someone is burning fossil fuel, to create your electricity. A littel cleaner and more efficient than mobile ICE gear, but fossil fuel. Some small % comes from Hydro, but the greenies are demanding the hydro dams be removed. Some % comes from nuke, and we all have ideas about that source.
So for you to haul around 1,000 lb of batteries, and recharge them from a plug in the wall, is "looking green" but actually isn't.
If you can find a way to not run the shop vac's then a couple roof top solar PV can run the electronics gear fine. Agree Mike and you forgot to add one thing which he is overlooking. All that extra gasoline being burnt in his vehicle to carry all that weight around. Comes out to more than would being burned by the power equipment with ICE he replaced with under powered electric.
He does not realize with all the extra gasoline being burnt in his vehicle from added weight, all the energy it took to make all the panels, batteries, charge controllers ect all add to a lot more emissions than it took to make them in the first place than he will ever offset. When all is added up he is just adding more pollution doing it his way than plain ole ICE equipment ever would produce. Let's not even mention how much money he is throwing away.MSEE, PEComment

all my batteries will be charged by solar, i have 5k watt system on my roof,
im now thinking i will invest in a solar farm.
say good buy to fossil fuels, and say goodbye to IC for the rest of my life.
hopefully ill get 20 years out of my solar panels,

No problem - someone else living beside you will be happy to use those fossil fuels.
Hauling the batteries around will consume a good bit of that fossil fuel for you.
For a very large percent of the population an investment in a company generating solar power makes better sense than owning a system.
If you panels are not thin film then you certainly should get in excess of 20 years life from them - that is fully expected.

This price of lithium batteries has dropped a lot since i last looked,
