Hi everyone,
I'd had a small 6x8 greenhouse and would like to install a exhaust fan. Ideally, I just need it running when the sun is out. I understand that in the cloudy days, the fan may run slower or not running at all and I think that should be fine. After reading articles and watching youtube, I still not 100% sure what is going to be the correct setup.
In the beginning, I saw people just directly connect a solar panel to the 12V DC fans. That's sound great since I only need the fans when sun is out. But later on I read in some place suggest it is better to get a charging controller, a battery with the panel. In that case, the voltage to the DC fans is not going to be too high and also the fan may have issue when electricity is not enough to power the fan, but still flowing to the fan and it may stall it even when power is enough later on.
The fan I am looking at is this http://www.amazon.com/RoadPro-RP-117.../dp/B00065JM8U which said 12V, 1.3Amp/16W.
Do you think it should be fine with the direct hook up? If yes, should I just get a 10W solar panel?
If that is not a good idea then I will get the panel, a smaller battery and a charging controller. From what I learn, this setup will power the fan 24x7, so what size of the panel, and battery (amp hour) should I get?
Thanks in advance
DH
