BILL JUST SEND ME THE BILL You do have a point not everything we do is to either save money or be a repaying investmant.
I did have a chuckle at your reply to Sunking saying it be cheaper to call his friends thay buy all the equipment to run his ham shack.
I too have had some very "wasteful "hobbies like 4wd racing, mud racing and dirt hill climbs, used to put away $300 a week from my pay to support it.. but it was fun, cant do it now my back not so good.

I think the point is everyone is just trying to say going solar is usually not a good way to power fridges and air cons.. it just cheaper to run them from the grid.

Sorry my knowledge of effecient air cons is just below zero.So cant be of use to help you.

On every solar forum website, there have to be untotaled numbers that have invested in solar that are in the same boat in more or less the same degree... Yes, that money could have been applied to many other things as well as a savings account....but I'm sure you know people who have spent much, much more on lake or mountain property, Alaskan cruises, bass & ski boats, jet skis, motorcycles, a brand new car just driven of the dealer lot, vintage cars, sports cars, jewelry and watches, etc.... Do you judge them in the same light?
No I do not judge them but you are talking about hobbies with purchased with disposable income, not necessities to live on that have to be budgeted.

        Thanks, John, sincerely.

Raising the funds for this solar project have been half the fun.... Can you imagine buying a floor height jewelry chest, full of jewelry, for $45? Can you vision finding a 1/3 carat diamond pendant on a thin 14kt necklace, along with just over $400.00 in silver and gold? Then, after going through all the contents three times, selling the cabinet and remaining costume jewelry for $10 more than you paid for it? My heart has had a few spells of racing and pumping Adrenaline by the gallon and much akin to the days the freight trucks have pulled up and off-load my new solar panels and equipment?

I'll post progress of my tracker and roof mounts in the coming months as Mike's solar project and construction pictures have been one from which I learned and watched his solar array's development....
See you in a year....if I'm wrong, I hope to have a choice of "Eating Crow", I'd rather have mine grilled rather than cooked in solar oven....

Here's a followup and are some shots of the standing $45 jewelry box where I found just over $400 in gold and silver. A 10kt high school ring is worth about $150, just by itself.

Also, here is a picture of some of the silver I bought for under $250 and got a check back from the refiner to buy my 440ah batteries. Future sales of garage sale gold and silver, and profits from my own flea market and garage sales were used to buy all solar equipment.
