D cell battery packs ah rating?

i have 100 d cell batterys thay are 1.2v each so i was thinking about making a 12 volt pack with 10 cells in each to make about 12 volts, whats the ah rating on a pack of 10?

Well if they are 1.2 volt cells I can only assume you are talking NiMh or NiCd batteries, D size NiMh and NiCd are rated @ 8 to 10 Ah. So the answer is 8 to 10 AH.

When you series batteries together voltage adds AH remains the same. So 10 NiMh batteries in series is 12 volts @ 8 to 10 AH.

No when you parallel batteries AH add. So if you made 10 strings with 10 cells in series 1 string = 12 volts @ 8 to 10 AH. Place 10 strings in parallel and you have 12 volts @ 80 to 100 AH.

But be aware placing batteries in parallel comes with lots of headaches.

It is very difficult to get them to charge and discharge evenly. This results in dead zones in the bank which brings the rest of the bank down with it.
