I want to build a 48V pack and there's only one BMS I can find with a low-temperature cutoff that's affordable, and they're out of 13s right now. Can I use a 14s?
Can I use a 14s lithium-ion BMS on a 13s lithium-ion? NOT lifepo.

Can the BMS be reset to work at a lower ( 13s ) voltage so you don't fry your batteries if overcharged ?
That's the critical question I would askPowerfab top of pole PV mount (2) | Listeroid 6/1 w/st5 gen head | XW6048 inverter/chgr | Iota 48V/15A charger | Morningstar 60A MPPT | 48V, 800A NiFe Battery (in series)| 15, Evergreen 205w "12V" PV array on pole | Midnight ePanel | Grundfos 10 SO5-9 with 3 wire Franklin Electric motor (1/2hp 240V 1ph ) on a timer for 3 hr noontime run - Runs off PV ||

You answered your own question, so give it a try and report back. There are many BMS options out there. The one in the link says 3S to 20S and your post says 14S. Are you looking at a different model?9 kW solar, 42kWh LFP storage. EV owner since 2012Comment

I need 13s, lithium-ion capable, 48V total, 100A capacity, don't need Bluetooth (nice but not necessary), with low-temperature cutoff. I've only found two BMS with that spec, the other is more expensive and doesn't seem to offer any benefit over this one.
Other thing I may do is get one of the more common BMS without low temp cutoff, set up an Arduino with a temperature sensor and a relay. Need a beefy enough relay though.Last edited by cdevidal; 10-06-2021, 01:51 PM.Comment

Website has a picker for exactly the series count, but the 13s li-ion are out of stock. Hence wondering if 14s will do. I've called the seller, he's busy. Sent email.Comment

Have you tried Alibaba?
Much better selection. Direct from China so cut out the middleman. I did not like the idea of ordering from there, but so many more options are available there most cheaper than AMazon and EBay, and also many, many ore options. Wait time sucks.Comment
