    IMO they are worthless and a marketing hype. There is no credible 3rd party data like IEEE to support or discredit otherwise.

      I own one, on a 48v, used battery bank, but I don't see it's done anything to help in 9 months.

        I have successfully rejuvenated several "unrecoverable" car batteries with an optimate charger. They had been put on "smart" chargers which turned out to be marketing hype and killed several good batteries but would not restore SG on those batteries that the optimate charger did, eventually.

        There are all kinds out there, some which pulse feed voltage with no feedback, other which do some algorithmic intermittent battery testing to determine pulsewidth, amplitude and such. I claim no deep understanding, but do note that I have had luck with desulphation of multiple car batteries to the point they could be trusted in service again from being lead recyclables

        The same charger is currently pushing sulphates off of ten year old surrette 460s and bringing SG back up. Although the charger isn't rated for this size of battery it is doing what it's advertised to, albeit slowly. The same cannot be said for the ten year old trace 2412 which would not equalize them. technology has advanced in those ten years. I suspect the understanding of the sulphation process and it's reversal has replaced trace's "brute force" equalization method with a crystal cracking technology.

        So it is my understanding that desulphators (the ones that actually apply pulse required to decrystalize) do work. Your mileage will of course vary and this is offered as opinion only despite request for data.
