1.5v rechargeable batteries

Can anyone recommend any 1.5v rechargeable batteries?

I have been trying out alkaline rechargeables but to be honest they haven't really been anywhere near as good as standard alkalines.

Normal metals etc are only 1.2v and so are no good in childrens toys for example.

Any advice form people who have actually found a 1.5v that lasts, I tend to get 2 weeks life out once charged compared to about 3-6 months for standard batteries (non-rechargeable)

In the technical area of the battery mfgs website, or papers, would be where you find the details on how to recharge THEIR battery, and how to detect when it is full.

NiCad used to be fairly easy, NiMh is more complicated, to determine when it's full and to stop charging. I've never researched alkaline rechargeables, because most reviews show them to be unworthy, except for some very specific load and recharge profiles.

At the moment I am testing Pure Energy's rechargeable alkaline's which are 1.5v and am comparing them to Instant's 1.2 volt Ni-MH batteries to see how they compare.

The alkalines do not seem to last that long although they have the benefit of being 1.5v which is needed for some apps.

The Ni-MH are goo because they have a long shelf life after charging so more convenient but are only 1.2v. although for most thins 1.2v is enough power.

I have been testing Pure Energy's 1.5v Alkaline rechargeables against Instants Ni-MH 1.2v after a recommendation.

For usage in my Wireless keyboard the Instant batteries last longer and have the benefit of staying charged.

I haven't been able to find any Instant type batteries at 1.5v so that they can be used in place of standard alkaline batteries in power hungry kids toys which seem to require an endless diet of disposables.

You never will find one as it is NiMh which is locked in 1.2 volts per cell voltage.

AA Batteries

Glad to hear you are looking to reduce your impact by using rechargeable batteries.

I got a huge stack of brand name high capacity rechargeable AA's at Costco. It was still like $60, but when I thought about how much I was spending on batts, it was ridiculous.

I have a gallon freezer bag that I have filled with used batts after just one year. That means there are millions of gallons-worth of disposable batteries going to the dump every year... YIKES.
