Question about 12v charging setup for a trolling battery

So far, this is working really well.

Got it set up last Wednesday just as the sun was going down. Battery was somewhere between 50 and 75% charge based on the Minn Kota's state-of-charge indicator. Got back to the boat Saturday early afternoon, the Steca charger was indicating it was in maintenance mode, and the Minn Kota indicator showed 100%. Fished a couple of times over the weekend, and it all worked perfectly.

Beats the hell out of running 400+ feet of buried AC line, hiring an electrician, getting a permit, and always worrying about 120 volts in a wet environment.

Thanks. That's a Fisher 160 Hawk. Aluminum deep vee hull. Kind of a hybrid bass/multi-species layout. The Merc hanging on the back is a 90 four stroke. Great motor. Had one trip to the shop for a fuel hose recall, but otherwise, it's been rock solid.

I used to have a Sea Pro 196 with the 150 Verado Merc.
The supercharger made a hole shot more like a 2 stroke but very good on gas.
Had one fuel line recall also. Bonehead Mercury didn't use an alcohol resistant hose between the slush tank and the injector pump. Died about a mile from the ramp I launched from. Towing on the water is expensive cost me $200.00

Ouch. Mine died about 100 yards from my dock when the fuel line deteriorated. Unfortunately, it was peak boating season and it took the local Merc dealer nearly two months to service it, so I basically wrote off the season.

The four strokes are really good motors. I had several go-fast bass boats with two strokes over the years. Generally reliable, but cold-natured SOBs at times, as well as smelly and poluting. Wound't go back to one.

I like Sea Pro. Was that 196 a center console model?

yes the center console offshore series. (used in the Chesapeake which can get downright nasty) Wife Chose that particular model as the console was big enough to have a porta potty and actually climb in and use it. I liked them as no wood was used in the construction.

The manufacturer who is the largest marine manufacturer in the world shut down the Sea pro line bout a year after I bought it. So much for the 10 year warranty.

I bought a Larson a couple of years before Genmar hit the skids. My hull warranty went right out the window with their bankruptcy.
