Solar vs battery ratio

Hi there, Can any one help me to know which ratio should I use to know which battery size should I use in any solar panel?
I asked my local dealer about this and he told me that I should take the total power of the panel x 1.5 in order to get the battery size.
eg 100Watts panel x 1.5 = 150AH battery.
110watts panel x 1.5 = 165AH battery.
For my case I am not sure about this thats why I have decided to ask if any one knows how to calculate the ratio of solar panel vs battery please help me on this.

He only had it half right, but that has nothing to do with the battery directly. What he was doing is a partial calculation of the size of the solar panel using MPPT controller. The ratio varies widely depending on where you live. It is not per say based on the battery size, it is based on replacing the energy you use in a day.

Rather than me going through this again just read this post and you will know how to do it.
