    Your math is way off.

Here is a dumbed down version of batteries. It is not great but has decent info for John Uneducated USA Schooled Public

Sorry sir, but you are simply wrong on your gel battery charge rates. Charge rates for Deka gel batteries are well-documented and are nothing like 5% of capacity, whether that is C/10 capacity or C/100. It simply isn't true and is not worth arguing about because any honest seeker can easily access this information - for example on page 11 of this manual http://www.africanenergy.com/images/...agelmanual.pdf

If you are convinced that the math is way off, be kind to point out the errors.....I think you may have confused capacity ratings with maximum charge settings....

        Hi all,
Things are getting lively, but at least we are ALL getting to the correct information, I am in Gambia, so i may loose connection at any moment so please bare with me, I have recieved a recent email from Deka with regards to charge rates, the first information From Deka appeared to be confusing however, they have now explained, the "C" rate DOES NOT REFER to charge rate, maybe they as a company have there own system but they have been in the industry for an awful long time, so i guess they should be aware of the terminoligy.
So recent information from Decka with regards to Charge rate for GEL is indeed 30% of capacity, in my case 180ahr x 30% = 54amp charge, with adjustment for temperature, so maybe the salesman was not such a crook, it now appears that Gel do have additional benefits than i was first lead to believe in my earlier post's.
S.K i do not doubt any of the information you have posted, at first glance the information seems contradictory because the charge rates on paper appear to be so high that the terminoligy or calculation must be wrong, but with confirmation from the manufacturers they are that high.

Africanenergy, if you would be kind enough to read my previous 'post' (they are not so many)' you will be able to see the equipment that is on its way here to Gambia, i have not truely designed all of the arrays with regards to capacity, the plan is for three arrays, i am not certain of the cut off levels for the controllers i will know more when they arrive on 29th, yes we are completely off grid (we are in the bush, as they say), which leads to the biggest problem of all, "consumption" All solar applications seem to start with that but you appear to have worked in Africa, we have no choice but to work with what is available, if for no other reason, it's that the very 'basic' equipment is just not available.
I will make another post with regards to Aluminum cable, i can secure what the locals call 12mm 7 strand cable but i have never worked with it, so any information would be more than welcome.
        Many thanks Mike.

You need to go back and read what I said. Gambia will tell you I said to use the manufacture charge rate. Gel in in generic terms is C/20
