So I had an epiphany yesterday: Why have I throttled back max amperage output on my controller to 60 amps (based on recommended 15-20% of battery AH rating) when my bank has 2 strings? At 60 amps each string is only getting ~30amps. How could I have missed that?
So I have reset controller to max output (80a).
My question is, should I also adjust ending amps? Presently, ending amps on bank is set to recommended 9, but that means each string has to actually hit 4.5. Is it correct that I should re-set ending amps to 18 to reflect that?
There are probably other settings as well. Shouldn't I adjust them all? Also, this is a good example on why multiple battery strings is a bad idea. Years ago, my very first solar setup had 3 battery strings which meant that each string was only getting a max of 20 amps. No wonder that first bank went bad so quickly.
