Round cell batteries.

Here's a question for Sunking, What do you know about these large batteries? I'm reading up on them now and see mention of a 40 year + service life.

While those seem nice, they are huge, heavy and more than likely not rated for many deep cycles.

Telco batteries were designed for emergency back up in case the grid failed. After a couple of discharges they become boat anchors.

But I will let Sunking put his expertise on the subject in case I am all wet with mine.

I came across them on Craigslist. Not that I'm interested in buying them, I just haven't ever seen them before and figured if anybody knows about them, Sunking would.

Looks like they were made only to not be watered too often, as the manual states:

"Cycles and discharge depth shall not exceed:
100 Cycles during warranted years of life with a 30 percent discharge depth
75 Cycles during warranted years of life with a 50 percent discharge depth
50 Cycles during warranted years of life with a 100 percent discharge depth"

most lead acid cells, setting idle or discharged for a couple years, are scrap metal.

Only buy them if you are sure you can sell them as scrap lead and make money after transporting them and wrecking the springs on your truck.
