Hi,
I'm looking for a low cost, simple, solution for creating a 'stream' in our garden. I'm looking to pump a reasonable amount of water (similar to mains pressure perhaps) up a hill with a distance of about 20m, and a rise of about 5m.
I saw a video about a toyota prius pump on youtube, and how it can be hooked up to a 16V solar panel directly, but I'm not sure if this would be powerful/reliable enough for my needs - but it looks like it may be worth a shot.
Can somebody advise me on what kind of panel I should buy? It looks like there are lots of options on ebay for 40W - 200W, most of which look like they are 12V. How do I know what will be effective for running the prius pump, or any other low-cost pump somebody might recommend?
I believe a 20000 l/h rated pump would be good. Is it overkill? Is it possible to run one from solar?
Any advice on a battery or tank setup would also be welcome.
