    circuit breakers

    I have just installed a solar system but I want to put some circuit breakers in which will act as on/off switches, but also work as a precaution in case of faults. Am planning to put the system in a rural school which has no electricity but needed power to run few electrical equipment.
    Am not too good with this kind of stuff so need help with following:

    (1) my solar panel carries 120watts of power to a 15amp solar charger, what size of a circuit breaker would I put in between the solar panels and solar charger

    (2) I have a 2500/5000WATT inverter that produces 240VOLTS when connected to a 12VOLT DC battery. The specification says it has an inbuilt 30AMP fuse. What size circuit breaker can I put in between the battery and inverter

    any help is appreciated

    They do not make them that small, as there is only about 7 amps max and no circuit breaker is required for a single panel. However you can use a 15 amp 48 volt DC breaker just make sure the wire size is a minimum #14 AWG

    I am not sure I really want to answer this because a 12 volt 2500 watt inverter is insane To drive that monster inverter you would need a 2000 Amp Hour battery weighing some 1300 pounds. Not to mention a 2500 watt solar panel to charge the battery.

    But to answer your question it would take 250 amp breaker and 4/0 AWG cable the size of a $100 Cigar.

      ok maybe i written something wrong in describing the inverter.

      the inverter although is that size (picture included), it was purchased with future in mind and the cables used were included.

      in fact at moment it only used to run an air condition which states rated input power 1050w, standard input power 800w, input current 5A, standard input current 3.5A.

      as its only a start up at moment, the battery is a deep cycle 100ah

      does this help in anyway?

        It is a little hard to tell from the picture without any reference for size, but either the inverter is very large or those cables are too small to handle 250 Amps, which is roughly what it would take at 12 volts to produce your 2500 watt output. To drive your A/C unit would take only about 100 amps.

        And in any case, at "standard" power, it will take you only one hour of continuous running of the A/C to discharge your battery into uselessness, and then about 4 days of input from that single panel to recharge your battery again. Assuming that it can be recharged without having lost too much of its capacity already, and that there is no load on the batteries for those 4 days.

        Aha, I think I have a reference photo that gives a better idea of the size of the unit than yours does. At least the DC input terminals look heavy enough.

              No because you do not understand what is going on. When you say the Air Conditioner input is 5 and 3.5 amps is at 240 volts AC. From the 12 volt battery that is 100 and 70 amps respectively. A 100 amp hour battery is only designed to deliver roughly 13 amps continuously.

                @AMIT: your connections are not compatible. be careful with the connections because that might cause serious injuries. Safety first.
