I have an electrician coming out tomorrow to replace my main breaker panel. The current panel is 40 years old and is small, 6" x 12" so makes for difficult wire management. He is going with a 15" x 19" panel which will fit but will be tight. Only two breakers will be in this panel.
My question is, in the pictures attached you can see installed a 12" x 12" "junction" box. I am not sure if that was because of the small main or if it is needed that way. If the wires can be incorporated inside the new bigger main panel can the junction box be removed?
