Solar Panel and fan set up - help

Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong? I attached the photo (in .pdf) above.

Summary: When I wire the fan directly to the solar panel, it puts out some serious air.

When I include the "connector" that came with the solar panel, I cannot get power to the fan...nothing.

I admit I am not smart with electrical systems.

The purpose of this is to put the fan under my boat cover to keep air circulating in these hot/humid summers.

Any help would be MUCH appreciated.

If you can provide the model number of the fan or box, it would help. Was it all sold together as a kit?

I'm going to try and attach/embed a picture of the Solar Panel Specs and the fan.

It was not a kit, I bought them based off a boating message board where someone used these two products to build a fan to circulate air in their boat while stored and covered.

I believe that "connector box" that came with your panel is for charging batteries. It needs to see "battery voltage" before it will work which is why the fan never gets any power from the panel.

Also that panel can put out 17volts which may be a little too high for that fan which is probably designed for a 12volt battery.

If so, can you provide any recommendations on how I could get this fan to work without frying the motor?

The pictures of the fan does not provide any details on what power source is needed to run but I would suspect it will work off a 12 volt battery.

That 15 watt panel might be big enough to "maintain" the charge on a battery but is not big enough to recharge the battery after the fan is used.

So to answer your question, you do not have the correct hardware to run that fan using that solar panel even if you add a battery.
