All the more reason you should not be working with electricity because you have ZERO understanding.

There is no such thing as GROUND on a battery. You can bond either polarity to a reference point, just not both of them.

I hope the original poster understands that people here are first and foremost looking out for his best interests - though the tone can sound critical. I would agree that based on what he posted thus far, he should not attempt to wire any part of his solar system, or house wiring if he has it. If the worst that could happen is an experiment in the back yard goes up in flames, and it costs $50, that is one thing. But in this case (solar system), whatever structure is involved could burn, someone could die, and thousands of dollars could be lost - pick an order.
