After we invaded Iraq, I decided to build a solar panel. I got as far as completing the actual panel but then life covered me up like kudzu and I never had the funds to buy the solar cells until I finally got my daughter's college education paid for at the end of July. My hesitation changed this week when I looked on eBay and found what I needed at about a fourth of the price I had planned to pay. they should be here soon and I can go back to working on the panel. I'll have about $60 in it thanks to my old boss at the sign company giving me the aluminum for the back and the clear plastic of some sort that is used for neon signage. that saved me a bundle!
Now what will I do with it. At about 60 watts DC on an AM1 day, it will give me, what? a maximum of 54 watts AC or something like that. I might be able to burn a 14 watt CFL bulb a number of hours a day. I could even use it to run my 1,850 watt hair dryer unless I let my hair grow long again and it takes more than three or four minutes every other day to dry my hair. Gosh! there's just so much I can do, I put myself to sleep thinking about it.
well, it is 1 a.m., I think I'll do just that.
